Doesn't he look like Carmen San diego and Vincent's child O-o?
Black Blood Brothers is a vampire anime staring, of course, two "brothers" name Jiro and Kitaro. The pair spend the whole anime trying to find a way to live in peace with help from a human by the name of Mimiko. I myself found the whole plot a bit on the lame side, it wasn't the best writing I've ever seen. Often times I was completely lost at what the brother's goal was and why people were attacking them. However, what this show lacked in plot it made up for (well almost) in some pretty cool main characters. Or at least...cool enough. Comparing the characters of this anime to other animes would make them seem almost cookie cutter-like so I won't do that. My favorite characters were the two main characters themselves, Jiro and Kitaro. They had a really interesting relationship and had charming looks a personality which is all a good character really needs. Together their best trait is that they are both strong-willed and can take care of themselves. (Then again Jiro is always saving Kitaro but that's just because he's young -w-) Mimiko on the other hand seemed like more of a generic character and, quite frankly, an unconvincing love interest. She didn't seem to have much chemistry with Jiro and the whole "vampire bite-sex" scenes bugged me because of it.
As far as vampires go I guess the vampires in this anime were so-so...the only ones that really annoyed me were the ones that were zombie-like and turned into dust when they died. I also didn't like any of the vampire villians cause they were villians for cliche reasons like killing people they feed off of.
My ultimate favorite part of this show is its awesome, but depressing ending theme. It's visuals and the song are both effective and make me sad every time (I now have the song on my ipod). However, the opening I skipped every time.
Ok, the BIGGEST flaw of this series is it's ending because THEIR WAS NONE! Nothing was resolved at the end of this series and it ended out of nowhere. The villian wasn't defeated and Mimiko and Jiro found no solution to Jiro's blood issues! It's like the creators were like "Oh yeah we'll have a sequel for sure!" but the thing is this series isn't popular enough to have a sequel so the ending will remain unsatisfying!
This is why I give Black Blood Brothers a mere 6 out of 10 because it just left me saying "that's it?" =_=
And now for a WAY more popular series that almost everyone watched this season, K-ON which ran for 13 episodes and gained many fans. This series was a cute slice-of-life / comedy anime that I LOVED! Seriously reviewing this anime would be kinda boring because there are very few problems I have with it! Instead of a review I'll just talk about some things I loved about this show:
The music: EVERY bit of music from this show was epic! I loved the energetic opening which I used to wake myself up in the morning, the ending with it's AMAZING visuals and rock-ish tune, and even the character's image songs I recently downloaded. However, Don't Say Lazy, the ending, will always be my favorite song from the show because...well:
LOOK AT THEIR FREAKIN AWESOME OUTFITS <3 haha no I loved the song itself~
Characters: I totally struggled to pick my favorite character of this series but after it all I'd say I would go for the cute main character Yui (I really wanna cosplay as her!) As for second and third place I really loved Azusa and Mio for their personality and looks respectively. (BTW in the above picture Azusa isn't there X_X)
Scenes: Ummm well there were many scenes that I loved in this show but the one that stands out the most in my mind is the addictive castanet scene from the beginning of the show, staring Yui. It's the cutest scene from the show, in my opinion, and I have it favorited in youtube. Anything with Ui and Yui's past also had the tendency of being adorable as well.
Ending: Techinically this anime kinda had two endings: one was a big concert finale and the second was a small special showing a bit more of the girls outside lives. I loved both of these endings for different reasons. The first one gave the viewer a feeling of victory and happiness because the girls had come so far and were finally playing together at "their Budokan." The second one acted as more of a epilogue showing you that the girls lives as musicians are far from over and that they'll continue to practice together and be friends (sequel foreshadowing?) It was like action-y episode vs. extreme slice-of-life and I enjoyed them both to the fullest.
I give K-ON 10 out of 10 because O_o well there was nothing wrong with it and it did really well with what it had!
